Montgenevre is a great family resort - at the far end, you find the area that has seen plenty of development over the last few years.
What do we find at this end of resort?
Coming across the market, there were some mouth watering dishes of gratin potatoes, lasagna, couscous, roasted chickens, raclettes and fondues - there aere just some of the many pre-prepared meals that we found at the Cocci Market - these are ideal and aimed at the eelf-catered holiday market - makes the food preparationm that much easier and certainly very tasty.
Where to stay?
Located at the Obelisk end of Montgenevre, in the heart of the Hameau, are a range of accommodations: Hameau Des Airelles, Dolines and the Hotel Anova, all of which offer various sizes of apartments and have their own spas and treatment rooms with ski locker storage.
Whilst most apartments have their own kitchens for self catering, the Cocci offers a fantastic range of fresh products, including fruits, vegetables, a deli with a vast selection of cheeses and cold meats, and local Italian and French products reflecting it's location on the border between these two Countries.
The shelves are stocked high with quality products, offering a great choice. It also operates a Pizza take away service open from 18.30, should you fancy an easier easier meal in.
Great for families
For families this is a perfect location, with an ESF meeting point and a Piou Piou club for 3 to 5 years old just minutes walk from all accommodation it makes getting to ski school so much easier.
Our Ski supplier Josephine Pavesi also has a shop at this end of town meaning you can easily collect your pre booked Ski's and get straight out on the slopes
A small button lift TK Obilisque gives is the nursery run which even the smallest of children seem to find easy to operate, it also gives you a quick lift up the hill for the connection with the Chalvet Lift which is a Cabin taking you up the South facing slope and connecting to all the other runs on this side. The large Terrace Restaurant offers food and a great view, and access to the Luge named Monty which descends a rail down into the town (an exciting roller coaster ride not to be missed).
Cross the road and you are close to the Nordic Ski Centre, or the ice rink with a large sledging area behind- again ideal for the kids.
Access to the North side is via the Prarial lift behind the large Espace Partenaires with Medical Centre and main ESF ski school, again just a short walk. From here you can descend the blue run to Serre Thibaud or Tremplin lifts linking with all the slopes on this side.
A night out in the town involves a short walk of approximately 6 minutes to the centre of town where there is a variety of bars and restaurants. When the morning comes around again, fresh baguettes, cakes, crepes and coffee is served daily at the Boulangerie/ cafe just minutes from the Cocci Market, with a South Facing terrace it is the perfect place to plan the day ahead.
