This multi activity adventure week is ideal for families and includes a great selection of activities on water and land.

There is canoeing, climbing, cave touring and hiking.  You can explore this wonderful region of Austria in a truly adventurous way and taken home lots of great stories to share.

Salzkammergut is an Austrian region of lakes and Alpine ranges near Salzburg. In the south, the pastel houses of Hallstatt crowd the shore of Lake Hallstatt, which is ringed by mountains. Above town, exhibits at Salzwelten illuminate an underground salt mine’s thousands of years of history. Natural ice formations fill the Ice Cave on Dachstein Mountain.

Getting here: the closest airport is Salzburg (approximately 100km) which offers the easiest transfers - however, Linz, Graz and Munich are all possible as well.

  • Day 1 - Individual arrival in Bad Goisern.

    Arrive at your accommodation

    Price based on self drive - if you prefer to fly/drive (and hire a car) do let us know and we can quote for car hire.

    You will receive your travel documents at your accommodation.

  • Day 2 - Introductory cycling tour: Lake Hallstättersee ~ 30 km

    You cycle along the eastern shore of the Lake to Obertraun. Here you can visit the Dachstein Adventure World with its giant ice caves and spectacular cable car. The cycling trail continues to Hallstatt, charming and historic lake-side village and UNESCO World Heritage site. From here it is only a short ride back to your hotel.

  • Day 3 - Canoeing on Lake Hallstättersee (approx. 4h)

    The lakes of the Salzkammergut, embedded in the dramatic Alpine landscape, are predestined for all sorts of water sports activities. After a short introduction you head out on the calm lake and explore the most beautiful parts of the lake and its shore.

  • Day 4 - Optional - A night in the mountains at Goisererhütte or individual organised day

    The short but steep ascent to the Goisererhütte mountain lodge is well worth the effort. Once at the lodge you can explore further to the summit of Mount Kalmberg or the “Kalmoos church”, a cave in which Protestants attended services in secret during the Counterreformation.

    Tips for the individual organised day:

    Trip to Gosau where you can expect the following highlights: hiking tour round Lake Gosausee, cable car up to Zwieselalm and hiking, Kids Adventure Park Primeval Forest in Gosau

    Bad Goisern: Hiking at Traunreiterweg (ideal family walk), Figures and Legends Trail (exciting trail with beautiful views across the valley), Archery in a 3D Parcour

  • Day 5 - Rest day

    If you chose the overnight at Goisererhütte mountain lodge you will descend back to the valley after a hearty breakfast. Today a trip to Bad Ischl or Lake Wolfgangsee would be definitely worthwhile.

  • Day 6 - Sport Climbing (approx. 4h)

    Today will consist of a playful introduction to sports climbing with the help of a professional instructor. Depending on weather conditions, this will be done outdoors or in an indoor climbing centre.

  • Day 7 - Cave Trekking in Koppenbrüllerhöhle (approx. 2-3 h)

    The northern limestone Alps are known for their extensive cave systems. With your guide you will explore into the Koppenbrüllerhöhle cave – wiggle through narrow passages, rope down steep drops and experience the total darkness of the caves.

  • Day 8 - Individual departure

    Individual departure home or additional nights

    You are welcome to schedule your homeward transport for any time.

    If you decide to spend more time in Austria, we can offer an extension in a city or in the mountains - do get in touch and we can make some suggestions

  • This tour runs from early May until mid-September 
  • Daily arrivals usually possible.
  • Prices based on group of 4 - if you are a smaller group, this will attract a supplement.

Tour profile

  • Minimum number of participants is 4 people
  • Walking and cycling tours are self-guided with detailed maps and route descriptions being provided.
  • All other activities are carried out in company of a professional instructor.

Tour offered based on self-drive - if you are flying in, there is a supplement of £25pp for transport or we can arrange car-hire (price on application)


  • Swimming skills are a prerequisite for all activities on water
  • To enjoy the climbing and the time in the caves you should have a good head for heights and you should not suffer from claustrophobia
  • All activities are suitable for children of the age of 8 or older
  • Special equipment is provided for all activities. Basic outdoor equipment like good walking shoes, rucksack, rain and sun protection, functional clothing and also a warmer jacket or pullover (especially important for the caves) are necessary to enjoy your trip.
