Skiing & Boarding in Kitzbuhel

The extensive Kitzbuhel ski area extends over two provinces and seven municipalities.  There are 54 cable cars and lifts commute high above the world-famous ski resort on the summit to 2,000 meters above sea level.

The Streif is the most spectacular downhill ski race track in the world. It brings the best skiers from every corner of the world together in an almost gladiator style fight for the honour of victory on the Streif. During the winter, before and after the race, the Streif is a public ski area and one can tackle the racecourse or the easier Family Streif. Visiting Kitzbühel for the race is a great experience, but you can also tackle the Streif yourself for most of the winter and you don’t have to be an expert racer as the resort has conveniently produced a less challenging ‘family-friendly’ variant of the route using the red piste number 21.

Kitzbuhel also offers guaranteed snow with temperatures at the summit getting colder year on year and an average of 155 days that can be skied per season.

In Kitzbuhel, Freeriders will find countless deep snow runs. The easily accessible backcountry stretches across an area of over 200 km2. With this in mind, Kitzbuhel is positioned as off-piste paradise for those who love the untracked slopes and the sporting challenge of ungroomed routes.

Recent enhancements in resort

New 8 seater charilift Brunn with heated seats and weather protection hoods. Kitzbühel is providing its guests with unique and outstanding extra dimensions of quality. The Brunn Project is a comprehensive and integrated scheme set within the ski area’s boundaries – at the very heart of Hahnenkamm/Pengelstein - comprising a system of 3 ski runs catering both for those who just enjoy skiing and serious racing carvers (from “dark blue” to red to black). Traditional ski runs have been reworked and revitalised, with the integration of a popular powder snow slope as a black ski run. These three ski runs open up skiing areas with a total length of 7.2 km and a surface area of almost 60 acres! This means the sking area has been exteded by 5% (currently 1100 acres). To provide easy access to this outstanding skiing area, the newly constructed 8-seater Brunn chairlift brings new and unimagined dimensions of quality to hi-tech chair lifts.
