It covers the area of torrent flows of both the Velika and Mala Paklenica Rivers and their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the south slopes of the Velebit mountain range.
Hiking is the only way to really get to know Paklenica. The people here were predominantly nomad stock herders and you will see a lot of mountain shepherd residences along with ruins of numerous sacred buildings including churches, chapels, altars and holy hills. A reflection of times gone by.
- Breakfast and lunch included
- Hiking 4-6 hours, moderate

Day 4 - Kayaking Zrmanja River – magnificent wild-west-like canyon
Today we head out for canoeing down the magnificent wild-west like canyon of the Zrmanja and Krupa Rivers.
After a short introduction to paddling you will push off for an afternoon of refreshing fun on the clear, warm and emerald waters of these Croatian rivers, considered two of the most beautiful in Europe.
Your water craft may be a raft, canoe or sit-on-top kayak - depending on the river conditions.
You will get to enjoy waterfalls, easy rapids, hidden swimming pools, steep sided canyons and very likely no one else on the river but your group.
The evening will be spent in the peaceful Novigrad whilst enjoying a traditional supper.

Day 6 - Trekking Krupa River and sightseeing Zadar town
You will start your day with a van drive to a little village called Golubici where you will visit a local sheep and goat farm. After tasting the local cheese and drinks you will take a short walk down the hill to Kudin and the Bridge of Kuda which was built at the turn of the 19th to 19th century.
Legend says that a young guy called Kuda wanted to be closer to his loved one at the other bank of the river. So he built the bridge from 12 arches out of travertine blocks and just as many pillars. The last two arches are now damaged but Kudin Bridge still stands despite time and the high waters in the winter.
After the hike, you will stop and visit the Orthodox monastery on the Krupa River bank.
You will finish your fabulous day by continuing your journey to Zadar. This beautiful old town on the Adriatic coast is well worth seeing and experiencing.
- Breakfast included
- Hiking 3 - 4 hours, moderate
-
Day 7 - Sea kayaking expedition into Zrmanja River canyon
Your trip today is to the Zrmanja River canyon. The water here is brackish - a mix of fresh and salt water - which is the reason for all of the abundant life under the surface.
The eel which dwells here is a favourite local gourmet specialty, but we are more likely to spot turtles, fish and birds along the way. After kayaking upstream on calm waters you will be able to enjoy swimming and jumping off cliffs before making an optional lunch break.
There is a farewell dinner in the evening on the terrace of the hotel.
- Breakfast and dinner included
- Kayaking 4-6 hours, moderate
