Venice Lands Short Break

Cycling in this sophisticated corner of Italy is a real pleasure.

You will get the chance to admire the elegant villas of the Venetian nobility, discover Vicenza - part of the World Heritage List since 1994 - and taste a typical 'grappa' in Bassano which is famous for its covered wooden bridge.

You will also cycle through the Prosecco vineyards between Asolo and Treviso as well as explore the timeless fascination of Venice by foot and by water.

Getting here

Vicenza is connected with the following airports:
Verona: 60 km, Treviso: 70 km, Venice: 90 km

  • Day 1 - Vicenza

    Individual arrival into Vicenza which is a historical city characterised by the buildings of the famous 16th century architect Andrea Palladio.


  • Day 2 - Vicenza – Bassano del Grappa 40 km

    This morning you will cycle from Vicenza towards Marostica which is famous for its castle and the chessboard main square.

    The last stop is Bassano del Grappa with its covered wooden bridge and of course the 'grappa' itself!


  • Day 3 - Bassano del Grappa – Treviso 65/40 km

    As you enter Asolo you are presented with the only real uphill section of the ride.  The downhill run takes you to the land of Prosecco vineyards and up to Maser.

    You can shorten today's stage by 25km should you wish to by taking the train from Montebelluna to Trevison with a change in Castelfranco.


  • Day 4 - Treviso – Mestre/Venice 45 km

    Leaving Treviso behind you, you will follow the course of the River Sile up to Casale.

    Finally, at the end of your trip Venice awaits you.  Enjoy this evening among canals and narrow streets synonymous with this wonderful city.

    Accommodation is in Mestre; a supplement applies for lodging in Venice. Please note that in Venice (apart from Piazzale Roma) it is forbidden to cycle, and also to push your bike by hand.

    Total vertical up: 350 m
    Terrain: 90% tarmac, 10% unpaved 
    Train connection among the overnight stays: every day
    Possibility to shorten the itinerary by taking the train: day 3.

  • The itinerary is completely in the low-lands except for the 1 km slope in Asolo. You ride on secondary streets with low traffic or paved bike paths. Easy cycling in mostly flat areas, with only few short climbs and descents. Little effort required, suitable for most people. This tour is also suitable for children.
